That’s why I provided designs for the riser blocks for this set. They should offer you a very excellent reach to have these in your toolkit.
If you program them on the CNC, you can have a beautiful set. The very least technically useful is 3 units, although I would suggest doing more. I usually seem to use around 6 at a time.
Build 2 riser blocks for each screw jack if you make a set of 6. You should be able to do each component in a single operation if you run them on a CNC lathe. The only difference is that you may want to tilt your screw, so it is nice and smooth.
This is an excellent CNC lathes learning project and it offers a great possibility to wrap your mind around clearances and unilateral tolerances. You can feel the difference between a 0.005′′ and 0.015′′ slide.
